If you are a dreamer come on in...

Photography, for me, has always been deeply personal. It’s a quiet hobby, a retreat from the noise of everyday life. It’s something I do for myself, without the pressure of competition or technical precision. I do a bit of club photography, but I find my truest creative expression in the challenges that come from free-form exploration.

At the end of 2022, I was struggling with anxiety and needed space to reconnect with myself. I was encouraged to find a hobby and turning back to my camera seemed the natural response. Photography became my solace, my escape. It was and is a pause that allows me to slow down, notice the world around me, and connect with the moments in between. It has helped train my eye to see deeply and observe with intention.

The images on display echo that journey. They are an invitation to look closer, to step into a dreamlike world. Most of the works here are reflections — captured in a broken mirror found by the side of the road or in water, or they are images taken through glass. Layer upon layer, each photograph blurs the lines between what is real and what is perceived.

Focused on the natural environment, you will find two distinct sets of images : one depicting greenhouses — spaces that intrigue me as monuments to a past industry which hold beauty in their decay, as nature slowly takes hold. The other set rooted in the familiar. These are the places I know intimately: my garden, my workplace, the routes I drive or walk regularly. Through these images, I hope to convey not only the daily rhythms of these spaces but a deeper connection, one that transcends time and places them within a larger, almost ethereal context.

The lines between the real and the imagined blur, creating a distorted yet beautiful abstract images. What is visible and what is obscured become part of the same story. The images serve as portals, encouraging reflection on the beauty that lies in the overlooked corners of the everyday. They transport the viewer to realms that exist just beyond the surface, inviting introspection, and challenging perception.

This collection is testament to my experimental approach, where often the most interesting images emerge from simply being present and capturing what is before me rather than seeking out the perfect shot. It’s a mindful practice, a positive distraction that helps me transport myself from the moment and into something more.

I invite you to explore these works not just as photographs, but as a journey of discovery — both of the world around us and the depths within.

I am extremely grateful for the support, guidance and encouragement that I have had in creating this exhibition:
